I got my first job at a little Italian deli in Kearny New Jersey when I was 14 years old. That’s where I learned how to cook. I believe meatballs were the first thing I was taught. I still make those meatballs today and yes they are fried before they go into the sauce. My father taught me to fish when I was a kid. My first memory of fishing was at a small park in Verona New Jersey catching stocked trout on opening day. The experience started a life long love and fascination with all things fishing and of course trout. Through the years I worked as a caterer, an Army cook, a grill cook, a sous chef, a pastry chef and an executive chef. You name it I’ve done it in the food industry but about twelve years ago I decided that even though I loved cooking I needed to change directions. That’s when I started my career as a TV production manager and have been happy in that roll ever since. Now, I still cook everyday, I fish every chance I get and I love to talk about them both.

I made my first movie when I was 10 years old with my brother Michael. We created our own film company called Robert Cinema and from that moment on my passion has been all about making movies. Over the years we have produced over 100 short videos and 7 feature films to date. I have been working for Fox for 7 years as a television producer and play bass in a popular cover band in NJ called Rock Road. As a self proclaimed fishing “expert”, I have never successfully caught a live trout in any river in NJ. I blame it on poor weather conditions, grumpy fish, and sub par equipment. However, when it comes to bass fishing and deep sea, I’m a regular pro!

I love boats. I made a promise to myself when I was a little kid that I was going to own every boat ever made. (I only have one so far, but I take her out fishing every single chance I get) Getting bad grades in school led me to my career in TV as a Field Producer, which has allowed me to travel to some of the strangest and most famous places on the globe. I’m one of the lucky ones, I love my job. Being constantly on the go and surrounded by technology leads one to take his vacations as far away from that stuff as possible; enter Pete and Rob, both who share my love of nature, fishing, beer, Scotch, and eating, especially eating the fish that Pete cooks.

Hey guys, the website is looking great!

What a great thing for your mother to see, a hook stuck in her son’s wrist. I can’t get up the nerve to watch the video. Mom.
Awesome Mike! Love the site & show! Wanna come on down to the Rhode river and explore the fish of the Chesapeake Watershed? Crabs we know but what about the fish?
P.S. your big sis would love to see you!
Hey guys!! Have you ever considered travelling to Ohio for an episode? I have to tell you that the Steelhead trout fishing is awesome. If you are interested send me an email and I will send you the info. And yes, I am craving Taylor Ham. I can’t get it out here!!!!
I like to talk to you about your TV show.
Mike,
When are you gonna come south and explore the best of the Chesapeake Bay? If you wanna add some blue crabs to the menu I can guarantee success! If not, well there’s plenty of fish here too.
By the way, the boat’s beggin’ for your TLC.

I am in TEXAS. I am a long time saltwater angler, having growing up in Galveston County. I just want to say that I caught your show…have seen only two episodes … and I must say you are on target! Fish, catch, prepare the catch for a meal – - – a simple concept that I can relate to! Hey Pete, come to Texas and let’s go fishing for Speckeled Trout or Redfish!
Hey Randy,
Thanks for the note. We think it’s great that you “get the show”. The concept is not original but our delivery is and if that’s what you like then I think we are on target. Speckled Trout and Redfish! Funny you say that. We were just down in Florida, fishing the Gulf for Speckled Trout. Check out the episode next week Tuesday 5/3 at 8pm. As for Redfish we didn’t get any in Florida so we are thinking that Redfish is on the menu for Season Two!!! And Galveston Country sounds great to me. If you have time email us pictures of some of the fish you catch down there and tell us a little bit about your area. Send to hlskillet@gmail.com
Thanks again for the note and keep watching.
Pete

Keep up the amazing work! Sorry I don’t have your network here in VT. I’ll keep watching on the Internet. My wife and I watch Zane Lamprey all the time, well that’s over! Now I have HLS! Are you ever going to do an episode in Greece? Let me know if you need an extra camera man
